Sailing

The Claremont Yacht Club is an excellent environment to discover the joys of sail whether through our competitive racing fleets each weekend or in a more relaxed style on our Twilight Cruises every Wednesday night.

If you have never sailed before that’s not a problem. We open our doors to all levels of experience and certainly welcome anybody who is keen to ‘give it a go’.  We run courses during the year – but if you are keen – just come down for some “on the job training”.

Keelboat owners and skippers are always on the lookout for new crew to help them crew their yachts. If you’re seeking the fun and rewards that being part of a team can bring, you are welcome to register your interest as a crewperson by contacting the office or just come on down to the Club and give it a try. You will be allocated to a skipper who is looking for new crew. If you like it and want to be part of the Club, you can then join the Club as a crew member for a very affordable annual Crew Member subscription.

Saturday Racing commences at 1400h each Saturday during the sailing season (October to April) and races generally last for 2 to 3 hours, after racing its back to the club for presentations.

Our Wednesday Twilight Cruises start at 1830h each Wednesday evening from September to April. If you would like to try Twilight Sailing please contact the office so we can arrange for you to be allocated to a boat.  Get there by 17:45 to give us time for this allocation.

We continue our racing calendar throughout the year including a very competitive but social winter Frost Bite racing program through the months of May to September so there is never a month where there is no sailing at Claremont Yacht Club.

We encourage family and junior involvement at the Claremont Yacht Club and have membership options to cater for families interested in our Dinghy fleet.
